Councils ‘shun’ pothole protection that extends road life by 15 years: TotalEnergies features in The Telegraph
TotalEnergies has been featured in the June 7th edition of The Telegraph, discussing the reduction in road surface dressing treatments and its impact on UK road conditions.
New developments in surface dressing binders – including TotalEnergies’ Emulsis portfolio – create operational efficiencies in the application process and offer financial and environmental savings by reducing the need for ad-hoc maintenance and the frequency of deeper structural roadworks.
Richard Ashton, market development manager in the bitumen division of TotalEnergies, said: “The increase in potholes is running concurrently with a big reduction in the amount of surface dressing surface treatments being used in recent years.
“The resources needed to do the surface treatments require a tenth of the resources you need to asphalt [a road] or do structural work.”
