Community investment
We’re proud to support and sponsor events and initiatives near to our UK operations that meet community needs, address particular issues and bring an economic boost to local areas. For example:
- The Ultimate Masterclass Festival, a series of events to bring some of the brightest business minds to Aberdeen and inspire new thinking in the city’s regeneration
- The Lerwick, Shetland leg of the Tall Ships Race 2023 – 33 employees from TotalEnergies also volunteered during the three-day event to help make sure the days ran smoothly for visitors We also provide grants and donations to groups in the communities local to where we operate for ongoing projects and equipment.
Some of our longer-term relationships with organisations in the UK include:
Driving Ambition (Shetland)
This road safety initiative has been running in Shetland since 2013. It’s a joint initiative with Shetland Islands Council, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Police Scotland, Scottish Ambulance Service and TotalEnergies. It aims to educate pupils who are coming up to driving age on how to stay safe while out on the roads of the island, be it as a driver or passenger.
French Film Festival (Aberdeen and Shetland)
The Festival celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2022. It features a spectrum of French language cinema – from major hits to cutting edge new directors – and includes a programme of workshops, school screenings, competitions, Q&A sessions and encounters with film-makers and actors. The Festival’s growing learning programme sees thousands of students, pupils and teachers attend each year.
Concours de la Francophonie (across Scotland)
This national school competition is held by the Institut Francais d’Ecosse every year, where young French learners and their teachers around Scotland can take part by sending in videos showing classroom activities and pupils speaking or singing in French. The prize for the classes is a trip to Edinburgh to celebrate the International Day of la Francophonie and a selection of French books and games for their school.
