Our Commitments

What drive us

At TotalEnergies Lubricants we understand our responsibilities to people and to the environment. The products we develop have the potential to reduce the environmental impact every time an engine starts, and of every journey, every construction project and every business vehicle. From meeting and exceeding environmental regulations through to the innovative work we’re doing on future engine oils, our aim is for a more sustainable tomorrow.

Quality and safety

Meeting and exceeding industry standards for quality, safety and protection of the environment are key drivers for us, and at Total Lubricants we take these responsibilities very seriously. We are fully compliant with the European regulations outlined by REACH – Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. As such, we aim to protect human health and the environment from the hazards of handling and processing chemicals.

We have also achieved all the key ISO certifications for our industry. TotalEnergies Automotive Lubricants and its production plants are certified under ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 for the sites that manufacture products for the automotive industry. Our production plants are also ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certified.

TotalEnergies Lubricants works closely with all key industrial organisations and associations around the world to ensure our products meet the latest standards.

Innovation for the environment

Driven by the goal of making engines consume less fuel and cutting emissions, we invest heavily in research and development. At the Total Research & Technology Centre in Gonfreville, our Technical Centre in Mumbai and the Research Centre in Solaize, TotalEnergies' scientists and technicians lead the world in the design and development of new lubricants.

Our focus is on the future, constantly anticipating the needs of our customers and improving industrial standards as new engine technologies are developed. We are continually investing in:

  • Skilled teams across scientific disciplines including chemistry, mathematics and engineering.
  • The latest testing tools.
  • Sophisticated analytical facilities down to the molecular level.
  • Support teams in computing, documentation, quality and safety.

We work closely with our customers and with leaders in the automotive industry with the aim of achieving great products today, and excellent solutions for future generations.

Sustainability for the future

Global warming is a real threat, and Total Lubricants recognises the need to control pollution of the atmosphere, as well as the environment in general. That is why we are committed to:

  • Reducing particulate emissions – TotalEnergies' Low SAPS technology has brought down levels of sulphated ash, phosphorus and sulphur in our product range. With our new generation  Quartz Ineo and Rubia lines, we have led the way in protecting engines and optimising post treatment systems, while maintaining long drain intervals meaning you can drive for longer between services.

  • Greater fuel economy - Cleaner air is also the focus of our Fuel Economy lubricants. For over 15 years, TotalEnergies has been leading the way by offering engine oils that help reduce fuel consumption while at the same time ensuring the best protection for your engine. In addition to cutting fuel costs and reducing emissions, improving engine performance and lifespan adds to the advantages. Look for the FE logo on our products.
  • Biodegradable oils, sustainable sources - Our innovation has resulted in the development of a range of biolubricants for engines, gearboxes, transmissions, hydraulic systems, chainsaws and speedboat engines. Made using sustainable resources and classed as biodegradable by regulators, in most cases these products have earned the European Ecolabel. TotalEnergies is the only manufacturer to market lubricants with Bio and Fuel Economy characteristics.
