TotalEnergies to discuss roads decarbonisation and modern maintenance techniques with LCRIG
On August 17th, the Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG) will be hosting a panel webinar where experts from TotalEnergies Bitumen will discuss how recent advances in road surface dressing technologies are improving process efficacy and delivering environmental benefits through carbon efficiency.

The most recent AIA ALARM survey revealed that the backlog cost to fix local roads in England and Wales to an appropriate standard is now more than £14bn. Proactive measures, such as surface dressing treatments to extend road lifespans, will be key to ensuring this picture does not continue to worsen and that maintenance costs – including carbon costs – are reduced.
The important role that surface treatments can play in modern highways maintenance was highlighted last month, with the Road Emulsion Association (REA) and the Road Surface Treatments Association (RSTA), launching a campaign, detailing the benefits of the technology. According to RSTA guidance, surface dressing is one of the most carbon efficient treatments available, while mitigating many of the causes of road deterioration, extending road-life and reducing the need for expensive reactive interventions (such as pot hole filling) or total road reconstruction.
Rick Ashton, Market Development Manager and Gary Schofield, Technical Manager, of TotalEnergies UK Bitumen will be joined on the LCRIG webinar panel by Keith Brett, Contracts Director at Kiely Bros, and Steve Lovatt, Team Manager - Highway Asset & Commercial Services, Regulatory Services, Housing Development and Growth Directorate - City of Stoke-on-Trent Council
TotalEnergies has been a world leading innovator in surface treatments for more than four decades, developing advanced solutions for the highways industry that deliver economic, efficiency and environmental benefits – including the Emulsis range of low temperature surface dressing emulsions.
